Fundema reiterates that dredging has no cost to Barra Velha, but avoids answering questions

Draga Barra Velha
30.07 - The Middle Barra Velha Environment Foundation (Fundema) reiterated in a message sent to the Central Watercolor Journalism that the sand removed from the mouth of the River Itapocu in Boca da Barra, it's happening on a regular basis, "without charge" to City Hall local. The email sent by the Ombudsman's City Hall, said the information the president of Fundema, Ivo Iberê Gonçalves, that the Cubatao company is in possession of the local application with the National Department of Mineral Production (DNPM).

The work has raised doubts in environmental agencies such as the Environmental Preservation Association Boca House, and the defense of public transparency, as the NGO Clean Bar, who charge the Fundema more information and details about what is actually taking place between the end of Armando Avenue Petrelli.

As president of the Fundema, siltation in Barra Velha lagoon is happening precisely because of the south pier was not completed. Ivo, the message acknowledged that the work of dredging is palliative, not definitive, just to avoid the closure of the lagoon through the sand which consequently is brought by the force of ocean currents.

Goncalves, however, did not rule on the request of the authorities in the sense that there was a public hearing to detail better the community about these services, and the report of the biologist Patricia Cuadrado, executed late last year at the request of the Public Ministry Federal (MPF) in Joinville, requesting emergency in the south pier finish, which would be threatened with collapse just by the force of water.

Ivo reiterates that there was no specific interference with her to work - just conversations with those responsible for Cubatao company and those responsible for environmental licensing of Barra Velha and Araquari. As president of the Fundema, and I quote, "nothing more fair, and the work is of interest to both municipalities."

The Fundema did not answer how many cubic meters of sand are being taken by the responsible company, if the original project is being followed and that the actual deadlines for the completion of dredging, beyond the fate of extracted sand from the site. Ivo was limited to completing that "is at disposal for further information."
